Why We Started 30XY
We started 30xy out of necessity, most family businesses are grown from nothing and that is almost what we had to work with, a solid reputation was a good starting point, one beaten up truck, one driver and a handful of customers. Taking the huge step to start a business is a big thing for most people but in our case it was simple, my dad was in the industry and I knew it was being underserved. That is what they teach you in business school, find a need or a want, create a business or market opportunity, develop a better product or service offering, fill a gap that exists or a niche as they call it, demonstrate value to your clients….. Viola! You now have a viable business. That is what we built 30xy Group on, VALUE. 30xy for all of those not in the waste industry is actually a UN code which represents non-hazardous waste, you would have seen this on many tankers around the city and it is our core business. We have expanded and diversified over time and we now have Hydro Excavation, Drain Cleaning and Mainline CCTV Inspection services to offer as the markets shifted and demands changed. Competing in a marketplace full of global conglomerates has been difficult, you can’t offer customers the same as your larger competitors, and that is a good thing. Anyone can do what we do, fork out for the equipment, get a business card, charge a little less, pinch some work off a large competitor but that is not a viable option for a family business built to last. What your competitors can’t do is offer the same culture and quality which you bring to every job, from the first phone call, the first site visit, a prompt quote, a job completed on time and a correct invoice being sent. These small one percenters are what we have built our brand on, it is what we instil in all of our staff, put simply WE CARE. We have now been in business almost 10 years! That’s a decade, 3650 days, a lot of stress and heartache but overall we have built a business in a tough marketplace and I’m proud of that. We did it together, we did it as a family.
